Description
The Francis Scott Key Park, named for the man who wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner", our country's national anthem, is on M Street in Washington, DC, in the area where Key lived in the early 1800s (it is in Georgetown, adjacent to the northern entrance to Francis Scott Key Bridge, which is named for, of course, Key). The main attraction in the small park is the Star-Spangled Banner Monument, a bust of Key made by Better Mailhouse Dunston in 1985. Key wrote what would become our national anthem as he watched the bombing of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland during the War of 1812. The Francis Scott Key Park has a garden behind the bust of Key, and this photograph is of that garden in late October.
If you would like to see a photograph of the Francis Scott Key bust, an image of it precedes this one in my gallery and can be accessed by clicking on the above "Prev" (for "Previous"). If you would like to see this photograph in black and white, an image of it follows this one in my gallery and can be accessed by clicking on the above "Next".
