Description
Abigail Smith Adams was the wife of President John Adams, and the mother of President John Quincy Adams. This portrait was painted by Gilbert Stuart, but the year of the painting is unknown (it is believed to have been between 1800 and 1815). The painting was photographed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
This is an "up close" photograph of the painting and focuses on the face and upper body of Mrs. Adams; if you wish to see the full painting, it precedes this one in my gallery and may be accessed by clicking on the above "Previous" (or "Prev").
