Artist's Description

The Newseum is a museum dedicated to "news" or journalism in the United States, and is located in Washington, DC. The First Amendment of the Constitution, which guarantees free speech and freedom of the press, is boldly inscribed on the front of the building. It reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peacefully to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

The Newseum is prominently located on Pennsylvania Avenue, across the street from the National Gallery of Art and five blocks from the United States Capitol, in Washington. The large, 7-floor, 250,000 square-foot building was completed and opened in 2008. I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
