Artist's Description

The "Multiuniverse" is a high complex light (LED) sculpture by Leo Villareal that surrounds the Concourse moving walkway that connects the East and West Buildings of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. The sculpture has approximately 41,000 LED (light-emitting diode) nodes that individually glow and fade in various patterns that result in a continuously changing sculpture. This photograph captures the lights briefly unified in a bright pattern, which gives some illumination of the moving walkway. If you go to the National Gallery of Art, go down to the basement or Concourse level and check out this remarkable light sculpture (it is best viewed while riding on the moving walkway).
