Artist's Description

Kahlil Gibran was a Lebanese writer and philosopher who immigrated to the United States in 1895 at the age of twelve. In 1923, he published "The Prophet", a book of 26 poetic essays. Regarded as a masterpiece, "The Prophet" was an international bestseller and has been translated into over forty languages, and is as popular today as it was when published nearly a hundred years ago. This photograph is of the Kahlil Gibran Memorial Garden on Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, D.C. (near the British Embassy).
