Description
The Newseum is a museum dedicated to "news" or journalism in the United States, and is located in Washington, DC. A popular feature of the Newseum is its display along the sidewalk outside the building of newspapers from almost every state as well as several international newspapers. In this photograph, the first four newspapers start with The Wahsington Post, then the Tampa Bay Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and the fourth newspaper, which the man is reading, is Honolulu's Star-Advertiser. On this particular day, which was August 16, 2017, the headlines showed the country's reaction to President Trump's press conference the day before when he double-downed on his belief that "both sides" were responsible for the recent violence at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, when white supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, fascists and neo-Nazis clashed with counter-protestors who opposed the hatred and bigotry of these groups (a woman died in the conflicts).
The Newseum is prominently located on Pennsylvania Avenue, across the street from the National Gallery of Art and five blocks from the United States Capitol, in Washington. The large, 7-floor, 250,000 square-foot building was completed and opened in 2008.
