Description
The National Museum of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) opened on September 24, 2016 in a ceremony led by President Barack Obama, with former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton present. NMAAHC is a Smithsonian Institution museum that tells the African-American experience -- its history and culture -- beginning in the early days of slavery to modern-day America. It is located near the Washington Monument on a corner of the national mall at 15th Street and Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC.
This is a photograph of one side of the building, and shows the intricate lattice that surrounds the building. The color of the museum varies depending upon the time of the day, weather conditions, and most importantly, the sun. On this particular afternoon, the sun was shining brightly on this side of the building and turned the bronze lattice into a strong, golden color.
