Description
The John Logan House is a national memorial to Senator and General John A. Logan, who served in the American Civil War, and ran for the Presidency in 1884 in the Republican primary, and as a candidate for Vice President in that year’s General Election. Logan also served three terms in the United States Senate following the Civil War, and during most of that time he lived in this house on what is now known as Logan Circle in Washington, DC. In 1885, Logan died in this house and was among the first Americans to lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda not far from his home.
