The reflection of the Washington Monument in the pool of calming water that welcomes visitors to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, DC. The museum opened on September 24, 2016 in a ceremony led by President Barack Obama, with former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton present. It is a Smithsonian Institution museum that tells the African-American experience -- its history and culture -- beginning in the early days of slavery to modern-day America.
