Description
Shortly after arriving in Washington, DC back in 1982, I began taking acting classes at a small local theatre that had been around for just a few years. But over the decades the Studio Theatre grew, and it is now the most prominent contemporary theatre in the city. I was very proud to know Joy Zinoman, the theatre’s founder, and Nancy Paris, the best acting teacher in Washington. Over the years, the Studio Theatre has won sixty Helen Hayes Awards, this city's equivalent of receiving a Tony or Emmy. Back in the day, the theatre was not in the safest neighborhood, it was somewhere on Church Street as I recall, but for the past couple of decades it has been in its new home on the corner of 14th and P Streets, which has become a thriving neighborhood of shops and restaurants and good ole’ artsy folks.
