The J. Edgar Hoover Federal Bureau of Investigations Building is in downtown Washington, D.C. The building was dedicated on September 30, 1975, and is named for J. Edgar Hoover, the first Director of the FBI who served for 37 years from 1935 until his death in 1972. The large structure has 2.8 million square feet and sits on 6.6 acres midway between the White House and the U.S. Capitol. But extensive negotiations are currently underway to move the FBI to a less "cramped" location in suburban Washington, requiring a minimum of fifty acres, and possible square footage in excess of one billion in a newly built headquarters. The completion date is planned for the year 2023.
I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
