Description
Leonardo da Vinci painted this portrait of Ginevra de' Benci, a young Florentine noblewoman who wed at the age of sixteen, as either an engagement or wedding portrait. Painted between the years 1474 and 1478, today "Ginevra de' Benci" is the only Da Vinci painting in the Western Hemisphere (most of Da Vinci's work, including the painting "Mona Lisa," are at the Louvre in Paris). "Ginevra de' Benci" was photographed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
