Artist's Description

The National Museum of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) opened on September 24, 2016 in a ceremony led by President Barack Obama, with former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton present. NMAAHC is a Smithsonian Institution museum that tells the African-American experience -- its history and culture -- beginning in the early days of slavery to modern-day America. It is located near the Washington Monument on a corner of the national mall at 15th Street and Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC.

This photograph was shot through a tree and shows a portion of the elaborate lattice that surrounds the building. At the time of the day when the sun is shining down on it, the bronze lattice is a beautiful golden color.
