Artist's Description

Photographed from underneath the Biloxi Bay Bridge in Biloxi, Mississippi. This was a difficult shoot for an amateur photographer, it was very dark under the bridge and what I wanted to capture was a light post on top of the bridge which was visible through a split in the roadway, and it was a sunny afternoon on top of the bridge where the light post was. Shooting from such darkness up into a well lit area presented me with technical problems that a more experienced photographer would have known how to deal with. But it was a fun shoot, I only fell in the water twice, fortunately I managed to keep my camera from getting wet.

I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
