Artist's Description

The Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB) is a massive building next to the White House, and is part of the White House complex, where many people who work for the "White House" have their offices, including every Vice President since Lyndon Johnson in the early 1960s. President Harry Truman had his official office in the EEOB during most of his presidency as the White House underwent extensive renovations, Herbert Hoover worked out of the building following the Christmas Eve fire of 1929 which destroyed the Oval Office, and Richard Nixon famously had a "hide-away" office in the building during his troubled presidency. The EEOB was built between 1871 and 1888 and was originally the State, War and Navy Building and was for years the world's largest office building. After the Pentagon was built in the 1940s, it became the "Old Executive Office Building" and an annex of the White House. I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
