Description
The Capitol Reflecting Pool is at the base of the west lawn of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., and begins the National Mall which extends for nearly two miles to the Lincoln Memorial at the other end. To find the Capitol Reflecting Pool, look for the towering equestrian statue of Ulysses S. Grant, the water basin is directly in front of it. This photograph was taken at sunset, which gave the buildings of the Smithsonian a silhouetted effect (the domed building to the left is the National Museum of the American Indian, and to its right is the National Air and Space Museum).
