Artist's Description

This is the oldest statue of Abraham Lincoln in Washington, DC, and may be the oldest statue of Lincoln in the United States. The statue was dedicated on April 15, 1868, three years to the day after Lincoln was assassinated at Ford’s Theater, just a few blocks from where the statue stands in front of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals at 420 E Street, NW. The marble statue was made by Irish artist Lot Flannery.
