Description
Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States, and served from 1829 to 1837. He is the only president to fight in both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. His national fame came when as a Major General in the War of 1812, he led troops to victory in the Battle of New Orleans, a major American victory against the British. This statue of Jackson is the centerpiece of Lafayette Square, a seven-acre park across the street from the White House in Washington, DC. Made by Clark Mills in 1853, it was the first statue of a person on horseback to be cast in the United States.
