Description
In the foreground is "Naiad", a marble sculpture made by Antonio Canova around 1820. In Greek mythology, Naiads were beautiful nymphs (female spirits) who presided over fresh bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers and streams. On the wall in the background is "The Marquesa de Pontejos", painted by Francisco de Goya around 1786. These beautiful women were photographed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
This photograph is in black and white. A color version of it precedes this one in my gallery, and can be accessed by clicking on the above "PREV" (for "Previous").
