Artist's Description

A Sentry guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, generally known today as the Tomb of the Unknowns, in Arlington National Cemetery, near Washington, D.C. Today there are four unknown soldiers interred at the Tomb; the first is from World War I, there are two from World War II, each representing one of the two hemispheres the war was fought in, and the fourth is from the Korean War. There was a fifth unknown soldier from the Vietnam War, but when his remains were identified through DNA testing, his family asked that his body be removed from the Tomb so that he could be buried back home.
