A Sentry guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, generally known today as the Tomb of the Unknowns, in Arlington National Cemetery, near Washington, D.C. Today there are four unknown soldiers interred at the Tomb; the first is from World War I, there are two from World War II, each representing one of the two hemispheres the war was fought in, and the fourth is from the Korean War. There was a fifth unknown soldier from the Vietnam War, but when his remains were identified through DNA testing, his family asked that his body be removed from the Tomb so that he could be buried back home.
I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
