Description
This sunrise silhouette of Washington, DC, was photographed from the top step of the Lincoln Memorial (one of the best views of Washington is from this particular vantage point). The tall Washington Monument is unmistakable. But if you study the dark horizon, you can see about half of the Capitol dome showing low along the right side of the obelisk; the tower near the left border of the image is part of the Old Post Office building that Donald Trump has a lease on to operate a hotel (his lease does not include the entire building, particularly the tower, which is managed by the National Park Service and is open for free to the public); you can also see the dome of the Library of Congress, which is to the right of the Washington Monument, and the dome of the Smithsonian Natural History Museum on the left side of the monument. The large rectangular shaped water basin below the Washington Monument is the Reflection Pool, which is also at the base of the Lincoln Memorial where I took this photograph.
