Description
It may not be modern-day GPS, but these old signs help you get to where you want to go in Arlington National Cemetery. More than 3 million people visit Arlington each year. The cemetery was established in 1864, and is on 624 acres of prime hillside land in Arlington, Virginia, directly across the Potomac River from Washington, DC (the home of Robert E. Lee is atop the highest hill in the cemetery). There are more than 400,000 of America's war dead and military veterans buried there, and today approximately 30 funerals are conducted daily, Monday through Friday, and there are occasional services on Saturdays as well.
